Sinharaja Rainforest Forest

Sinharaja Rain Forest Reserve is a protected forest and biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international importance and has been designated as a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The forest covers a series of hills and ridges that rise abruptly from 90 m to 1170 m above mean sea level. Sinharaja forest includes streams, springs, rivers, and waterfalls and is home to animals like leopards, deer, monkeys, butterflies, and various trees, shrubs, and medicinal plants are also found in the forest. Since this is a rainforest, it remains moist most of the year. The best time to visit the Sinharaja forest reserve is between January and March and between August and September.
